Alberta Civil War Part One

The Alberta Civil War Part One was held at Tactical Anarchy Paintball near Stoney Plain Alberta on Saturday June 1.  It was an excellent day of paintball and an even better day to meet ballers from the North end of our Province.  This was a one of a kind event which had two paintball fields battling one another, for the first time in Alberta Paintball history.

Skyline Nation Paintball of Claresholm Alberta (South) versus Tactical Anarchy Paintball of Stoney Plain Alberta (North)

The Fictional border of the cival war province is on the North side of Red Deer Alberta.

The Day began with the Southern Army gathering at the Ikea parking lot in Deerfoot meadows in Calgary at 0645 hours.  We boarded our luxury Coach, courtesy of Brewsters and headed north.  A coach for this type of event is the only way to travel and it is the first step towards paintball tourism in Alberta.  The coach had numerous TV’s, Surround sound and WiFi, which made the trip very relaxing and fun.

The Objective of the game was to capture four flag stations and hold them for points.  The field had 50% wooded area and the other half was open ground with numerous obstacles and trenches.  The weather was great and the southern team worked well as a team.  the South was split into two forces and separate objectives were given.  Army Group one was tasked to flank and link up with Army group two who was given a straight forward assault as a distraction.

Smoke and fully auto fire enabled key defensive positions to become overrun with 45 minutes and we linked up with our comrades and furthered our advance.  Great Sportsmanship, great laughs and epic weather made this a classic way to start the Summer in style.  The Score was 175-19 in the end and the Southern Army was victorious.  The South was commanded by Eric Pragnell (General Lee) and his command was comprised of two large forces. Army Group One was operated by Gabe Yee of the Unnamed and Army Group two by myself, Reid Moynihan of the Raven Mercenaries.

This fun rivalry made a day that will not soon be forgotten and we are excited to host our Northern Friends to invade the South at Skyline Nation Paintball.  Regardless of the outcome, this series is instrumental in bringing the paintball community together in our province and provides the opportunity to meet new players, producers, field owners and play new terrain that otherwise would be difficult to achieve.

The game is designed to have even numbers around 50-60 per side.  Payment for the invading army is done through Tactical Anarchy and Defense of the South is done through Skyline NAtion Paintball.  Payments can be made via online interact to email ranchoutlaw@hotmail.com or in person at The Battle of the Gully 3 near Waterton this weekend.

A massive Thank you to Project Mayhem for organizing the Southern Army and Tactical Anarchy for being great hosts.  We invite all off you to attend the Defense of the South on June 22.  Defence is $80 per person and includes a case of Valken premium paint and Bar BQ.  Could this be the beginning of Province wide campaigns against other fields?  The future continues to be written….

Skyline Does a Eco test on Paintballs!

We did a recent study to find out just how Eco friendly modern paint-balls really are.  We submerged 5 different brands that we have used to see just how long it took for them to break down.  It is an important study because we really care about our lands appearance and we also like the study to remind the importance of inventory storage in humid climates and more.

The Brands we have tested so far are(From Left to Right) Inka Silver, Polar Ice, Inka Bio Ball, Inka Copper and First Strike.  The paintballs dissolved completely or were heavily bloated or breaking down literally before our eyes.  Within just 2 hours, the Polar Ice and The Bio Ball were basically gone.  The First Strike is pure plastic and showed no signs or breakdown in 12 hours.  We will do a host of tests based on temperature, sunlight(dry up) and much more.

The whole point is to provide a superior product, be Eco responsible and dispel any myth’s of paintball.  We, at Skyline, are committed to the Land above anything.  We  really want to have a great venue and remind the community just how cool this sport really is.
